1930 - Mondrian was long withdrawn from De Stijl, however still liked the stability of horizontal, and vertical lines. He had argued that his diagonal lines weren't diagonal, as the canvas had to be rotated 45-degrees to be viewed, as Mondrian liked that he could do longer lines in this manner versus the canvas being in its traditional position
